Obituary for Esther Lopez
On Monday, January 7, 2019, Esther R. Lopez, passed away at the age of 85 years. Esther will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Rosa and son-in-law Gordon, her only granddaughter Amelia, and her sisters Rosa R. Ebrahim and Cecilia Forteza. Esther will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Esther was born on March 25, 1933 in New York City. She grew up in the Bronx and graduated from high school with a degree in cosmetology.She married her soulmate, Franklin Delano Lopez, at the age of 20 and they were together for 59 years before his death. Esther worked as a hair stylist and cosmetology instructor in New York City, Puerto Rico and Hollywood, Florida. She had many talents, but the role that gave her most pleasure was being the convener of family and friends for holidays and special occasions.
Esther was predeceased by her husband, Frank, and her siblings Raymond Rivera, Louise Garcia, Manuel Rivera and John Rivera.
A viewing will be held on Monday, January 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Thomas C. Montera Funeral Home, 1848 Westchester Avenue Bronx, NY followed by a mass at noon at Holy Cross Church at 600 Soundview, Bronx, NY. Interment will follow in the family plot at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx.
