Resting Place

It's May 20th 2017 6:30 am. This day knowingly was going to be difficult for us having to say good by as we embark on a course for Cape Cod. We're all exhausted both mentally and physically. I am unable to close my eyes wanting not to miss any part of this day. Awake I am haunted by my thoughts of you Bal and a bit unsettled by the thought of holding your ashes. Not present when the family picked up his ashes and then taken to several places one being Aqueduct racetrack and McDonald. Weird as it is I understood it's them showing how much he was loved and will be missed, a last hurrah. Reminiscing of the days past when you were younger full of life, unselfish sacrifices you undergo to make this family happy, surpass what was expected. We arrived at our scheduled meeting place. We all took pictures of each other posing with his remains uttering words of sincere absence and love. It was not long before we were all greeted by Captain Robert and Jacob Khol and were then given the okay to go aboard. We marveled at the size and beauty of the Bay Spirit. I couldn't help thinking about how happy our father will be. We were briefed and told it would be 30 minutes ride to the final resting place. As we arrived our priest performed the final ceremony and were then asked to take a handful of ashes to sprinkle into the Sea. As I was called upon a sudden calmness entered my body and as I reached and grabbed a handful of ashes I had nothing but love for the man we called Dad, father, Bal, Balgo, Sunny Boy and husband. I didn't want to let go then it happened ashes to sea which felt so good almost like he was with us saying goodbye and he's in a better place. What an amazing and beautiful site of ashes and flowers rocking back and forth in a sea of slow rolling waves that do not break. As I watched my family reactions with tearful eyes they also appeared to be at peace. We stood and steared upon the site untill it became minuscule then disappearing. We then looked at each other without saying a word it was understood this was the right decision a fitting final resting place for the Cremated Remains of Basdeo Balgobin have been Committed to the Sea. From your Loving family to our Raja Bal.
